Ballet Turnboard

I think it is safe to day most women wanted to be ballerinas as little girls.  It is the most relaxing and beautiful form of art ever.  You wear the beautiful tutu, the Lyra, and in most cases a beautiful head dress.  All the attention is on you and how graceful you can be.  I never had the opportunity to become a ballerina.  I was never taught even the most basic things of the art.  At 39 the drive in me to spin around on one foot is never going to diminish.

I am so glad I can teach myself how to pirouette in the comfort of my own home.  All I need is my turn board , a flat surface to spin on, and some confidence.  The key is balance,  with the help of the turn board you become more in control of your movements.  It can turn for a very long time, its just a matter of being confident enough to keep going. When my family saw me taking spins they wanted to join in too.  Its amazing how fast they caught on.

The board is a very stiff plastic that has a slight semi circle form.  The middle is cushioned for the comfort of your feet.  The bottom is made to handle towel or wood floors.  It can accelerate speed if you allow the force to take you.  I try to spin on my tip toes but to my amazement my daughter was able to spin flat footed.  I think it is all a matter of how you distribute your weight.

Well don't judge me!!  I posted the video below of myself trying out the board.  I personally think I could have done more if I wasn't afraid to fall.
