Athena Cup / Menstrual Cup

One thing that is almost always guaranteed is my monthly. For several years I managed my same ritual, unchanging.  I did take a upgrade from pads to tampons in my 30's. The whole process of a period or ritual in which you handle your period, is nothing glamourous. Frankly my period gets on my nerves. However, I think it is time to try something new. So when given the opportunity to review the Athena Cup, I was all for it. The Athena Cup is a menstrual cup that is a reusable cup that collects your menstrual flow. It is made out of a very flexible silicone. The Athena cup must be folded and inserted into the womb. It unfolds once inside and blocks the menstruation from flowing out, if emptied in a reasonable amount of time. If inserted correctly it does not hurt or cause discomfort. I have used it through two of my cycles. I fully got the swing of things after the second cycle and felt very comfortable with it.   I must be honest I do not mind wearing and emptying the menstrual cup at home.  However,  I would not want to empty the cup in a public restroom.  Because if it spills those consequences would be rather embarrassing. There are many benefits to using the athena cup. It is much safer than a tampon. The athena cup does not have carcinogenic ingredients and is eco friendly. It can be used for up to 15 years and saves a lot of money. t It overall feels better than having a soggy pad.

If you like to change your monthly routine check out amazon for the Athena Cup.

    1. Yeah, It took a little bit of courage to try. On the plus side it is BPA free.

  2. This probably wouldn't be a good idea for me. I hate Aunt Flo and pain is unbearable for me. I try to fix it by working out overtime. I would be too scared of something going wrong with all of the movement I do during that time of month. #ProductReviewParty

    1. Thanks for commenting Victoria. It's been pretty good. I've used it through my third cycle and have gotten even more comfortable with it.
