Who doesn't love fresh roasted coffee! It's the best morning pick me up ever. Not too long ago I was gifted African coffee beans. However, they were not roasted and I needed to figure out how to roast the coffee myself. I watch several youtube videos on how to roast the beans, until I came up with my own technique.
I preheated the oven to 450 degrees before I set the coffee beans in the oven. I used a grill protector sheet on a cookie sheet to prevent any of the bean from sticking. I place the beans in the oven and set a alarm for every 5 minutes so that I couldd move the beans around and allow them to cook evenly.
After, putting the beans in for the second 5 minute shift you should hear them pop. When they start to pop that is a sure sign that your beans are just about ready. If you light you beans lightly roasted you can stop there. Since, I like my coffee dark I allowed it to cook until my beans almost looked black. Please do not underestimate these beans they will be hot just like anything else you take out of the oven. Let them cool just a bit before you grind the beans. Please watch my video below where I demonstrate how I roasted my beans. Feel free to subscribe to my channel because I am always up to something.
